When a person watched the thing made of wood, the reason to recognize that it is a wood is because it has grain of wood isn't it ?
The grain of wood is the biggest evidence that it is a wood.
In this way a wood is a thing having grain of wood, but sometimes a person may watch the wood which only grain of wood was left.
For example, a piece of wood in the soil, a statue of wood eaten by insect, an outer walls of wood of old house.
They are not things or statues anymore. They are the creations which nature created named grain of wood.
